How to brush your teeth

Below is a step-by-step guide to achieving an excellent tooth brushing routine and maintain and enhance your oral health

Best routine for keeping your teeth clean

(Morning and Night)

STEP 1 Cleaning between the teeth

Before brushing your teeth, use dental floss or TePe brushes to clean the bacteria and food from between your teeth

STEP 2 Mouthwash

Rinse your mouth with a mouthwash. The anti-bacterial properties in the mouthwash will clean and remove any other loose debris in your mouth

STEP 3 Brushing

  • Never brush within 20 minutes of eating or drinking anything – during this time the enamel on your teeth is softer and is susceptible to erosion
  • Always use a good toothpaste
  • Brush gently in circular motions for at least two and a half minutes – any less than this is not enough to clean away all bacteria and plaque in your mouth
  • Do not rinse your mouth after brushing – this will keep the fluoride contained in the toothpaste on your teeth for a few minutes longer to help keep them strong
  • Brush your teeth twice daily, once in the morning and once the last thing at night before bed. Avoid consuming any food or drink after brushing your teeth at night as this will leave bacteria in your mouth which will have an ideal opportunity to grow overnight
